We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team for around 40 hours per week. As a Sous Chef you will be working within a small team to deliver fast paced fresh food to Walterz Entertainment Centre. You will at times work solo and manage the kitchen from opening duties to ordering and handovers for the following day. We cater for both walk-ins and large functions of up to 150 people with canapes or large party menus – this requires a good understanding of preparing your station, having an eye for presentation as is keeping calm under pressure. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and presentation standards.
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping, marinating, and measuring.
- Ensure all food safety and hygiene regulations are followed consistently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen workspace.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and service.
- Monitor and order appropriate stock levels of ingredients
- Help train new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safety practices.
- Participate in menu planning and development as needed.

Requirements
- Proven experience (min. 2 yeas) as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant setting.
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- 2 years fresh food experience
- Level 3 food safety.
- Grill chef experience – 3 years required.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
- A passion for cooking and creativity in meal preparation.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively within a team.
