Partington’s have been committed to becoming a more environmentally friendly business for many years, continuously taking huge steps towards a ‘greener future’ for the benefit of all our customers, team members and overall, our planet.
Here are some of the changes we’ve made so far:
Green Tourism
We have recently become a member of Green Tourism, an organisation which promotes greener ways for businesses to operate. By joining this association, we will be continuously evaluating our approach to sustainability and making changes to improve our impact on the environment.
Glamping Anthropods
Located at the beautiful Black Beck Holiday Park are our wonderful pods of eco-luxury, perfect for anyone on the lookout for a stunning sustainable staycation! Surrounded by the beauty of the Lake District, our Anthropods contain a range of specially selected eco-products to ensure that our guests feel at one with nature throughout their stay. From 100% recycled saucepans to coconut husk door mats, our Anthropods are the ultimate eco-sanctuary.
Hay Straws & Paper Cups
Our guests can enjoy a delicious beverage without having to worry about the waste that typically comes with it! Purchased from local business Paper Cup Company, our 100% recycled paper cups are perfect for both hot and cold drinks and, once finished with, can be made into compost. Furthermore, while you may be familiar with the flimsy and soggy paper straws you find in many businesses, we’ve swapped to 100% biodegradable hay straws! Made from wheat stems, these straws are entirely compostable and much sturdier than their paper counterparts, so our guests can enjoy a delicious drink without the hassle.
Electric Eco-Buggies
We have electric buggies available for our customers to enjoy tours of our wonderful Parks, as well as for our Housekeeping, Sales and Grounds team to easily travel on-site. By swapping from fossil fuels to electric power, we’re substantially reducing our Co2 emissions and caring for the climate.
Recyclable Dog Bins
After introducing pet-friendly accommodation on all our Parks earlier this year, we wanted to ensure that our four-legged friends had the same eco-experience as our guests. That’s why we’ve installed recyclable Apollo Dog Bins from Roadware across all our Holiday Parks. By using Closed Loop Recycling, these bins will be shredded down at the end of their life and remoulded, repacked and reused, preventing them from ending up in landfill.
Recycled Picnic Tables
Back in 2021, we introduced 100% recycled plastic picnic tables across our Parks. These tables reduced the use of fresh raw materials by using predominantly plastic bottles to create this high-quality outdoor furniture, making them the perfect places for our guests to enjoy a picnic, weather permitting!
Tree Planting
In honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we held tree planting ceremonies across our 5 fun-filled Holiday Parks, in which our guests helped plant over 150 trees! But we’re not stopping there. After the success of the Jubilee tree planting, we’ve pledged to continue planting trees across our Parks to help combat climate change, attract wildlife, and create peaceful surroundings for everyone who visits us.
Bug Hotels & Bird Houses
We think it’s important to look after our local wildlife and provide them with safe spaces to live and thrive, and so that’s why we’ve started installing bird houses and bug hotels across each of our Parks! Made from sustainable materials, these discreate creations are a fantastic way to help us co-exist with a variety of creatures, including various bird species, bugs, bees, hedgehogs and many more.
While we’ve already implemented a number of eco-friendly changes across our Holiday Parks, we are always striving to find new ways to reduce our impact on the environment, so make sure to keep an eye out for all the developments we’ll be making in the future.
